removing heater

We think we may have found another source for our ongoing water leak issues -- behind or under the heater under the kitchen sink.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to remove the heater to enable us to get at the plumbing back there?  When we are hooked up to shore water, nothing leaks -- when we fill the tanks and use the water pump, it leaks a lot.  You can hear water trickling when the pump is running even though all water faucets are turned off.

I wonder if it is a hot water recirculator??? kind of a wierd bit of
circumstances. Or it could be the pump. Does the pump run continually when dry
camping???? both shore and pump are the same system other than the pickup from
the water tank.

if the leak is only when you remove water (turn on a faucet)from the pressurized
pump powered plumbing lines(not shore powered) the pump will come on and draft
water from the non pressureized potable tank. the line between the tank and
pump is not part of the shore loop. this may be where you have issue????

The pump does not run continuously -- we used shore water and the leak went away and dried out -- so finally we got brave and Sat. evening filled the tank part way and disconnected the hose -- now the leak is back -- the tank has leaked enough water now that it is empty -- a great deal of the water runs under the floor and out the front of the bird on the drivers side but it also runs under the heater under the sink on only the right side not the left side of the heater.  It makes absolutely no sense to us.  So something is leaking under the heater.

It sounds like the potable tank or delivery plumping to the pump has the leak
and the water runs out in several places. It might leak out a crack in a fitting
or split in the tank and thru capillarity and molecular attraction stream down
pipes only to show up in other places.

If it is freeze damage there may be several splits. I was always curious why
members here complain that the tank fills slowly. Experiencing the same, I
intended to modify my fill system but fear that the inlet restriction keeps the
square tank from being filled to quickly which would lift the top and split the
tank??????


I would look at the tank (in the 94pt under the bed). take a wad of blue toilet
paper and wipe it around the base and fittings looking for evidence of water.
Blue and yellow toilet paper turns dark when wets up. ( you need to have water
in the tank and be doing the same things that prompt the leaking water Tanks
are not that expensive and you dont need the same exact size, just one that fits
the area.

The tank is under the bed -- but there is no indication of water leaks in the bedroom -- only from kitchen forward, so our conclusion is that it is someplace other than the tank itself.  And, I don't think I should hear trickling water under the kitchen sink when the water pump is running with no faucets turned on -- so probably in that area? or at least that is our best guess at this time.

Where is your pump located? Is it under the kitchen sink and leaking? If not, based on the other information you have given, the only other source of your problemthat I could think of is a malfunctioning pump that is not shutting offwhen reaching thecutout pressure. This seems very unlikely but if the pump wasn't shutting off the pressurecould get high enough to cause leaks where you would not have them at normal operating pressures.

I am not sure where the pump is -- but I think under the bed.  I know it is not under the kitchen sink where we have water issues.  The pump does shut off and turn on again when you use the water.

The tank is under the bed -- but there is no indication of water leaks in the bedroom -- only from kitchen forward, so our conclusion is that it is someplace other than the tank itself.  And, I don't think I should hear trickling water under the kitchen sink when the water pump is running with no faucets turned on -- so probably in that area? or at least that is our best guess at this time.

If it is freeze damage there may be several splits. I was always curious why members here complain that the tank fills slowly. Experiencing the same, I intended to modify my fill system but fear that the inlet restriction keeps the square tank from being filled to quickly which would lift the top and split the tank??????


I would look at the tank (in the 94pt under the bed). take a wad of blue toilet paper and wipe it around the base and fittings looking for evidence of water. Blue and yellow toilet paper turns dark when wets up. ( you need to have water in the tank and be doing the same things that prompt the leaking water Tanks are not that expensive and you dont need the same exact size, just one that fits the area.

I am not sure where the pump is -- but I think under the bed. I know it is not under the kitchen sink where we have water issues. The pump does shut off and turn on again when you use the water.
