Generator

Richard here, quit upday on my yanmar 12.5Kvw. Still looking for bad
wire#5, that comes out of the top of the starter solenoid, know that
it is in the wires that go behind the motor then connects with a big
set of wires that come down an out on the left side, go back around
the back of the gen. set, thinking them wires go to the right side
the controller wires are their, an the harness of wires from the
controller. I have a dead wire 0n #5, have jumper that wire to the 5
terminal in the controller, lets me start the gen, an runs great.
Asking if I'm on the right track here?

My generator will not move when I press the in and out
button. We can Hear the motor running but nothing happens. I assume there is a
gear or shaft that is the problem.

Have you checked the level of the hydraulic tank under your steps?
That's why mine wouldn't move.

The genset tray on the 83PT moves in and out courtesy of a hydraulic ram
cylinder. It operates off the same hydraulic motor and oil supply (under the
front entry steps) as the leveling jacks. If the hydraulic motor is running, as
you state, then you are either low on oil (as Art stated) or there is a seal
leak on the cylinder. If you are low on hydraulic fluid, the leveling jacks
should not operate properly either. Is there a puddle of hydraulic oil under
the genset tray? If so, let us know and I'll post how to repair the hydraulic
ram cylinder seals.

BTW, BB recommended Dexron ATF in the hydraulic system for that year. Check to
make sure the existing fluid looks red like ATF.

I'd like the directions for an 85 PT40. Mine seems to be leaking and I haven't had the time to tackle it yet. But, I need to get my bottom in gear and get it fixed. I appreciate the help.
