Crummy weather

From high 70's on Monday to mid 30s on Tuesday, to a high of 28 in San Antonio
today. In the teens now. I saw a report that said it was colder in El Paso, TX
today than Barrow, Alaska! It's crummy weather over most of the US. Many of
our members live in the affected path of this storm. Even Australia, where we
have a resident member, got hit by a Cat 5 typhoon.

I hope that everyone is warm, dry, off the roads and safe!

On the other hand, there ought to be some interesting Bird of the Week photos
out there. Send in the pictures of the Birds buried in snow!

mine is not buried in snow- but 2 inches of ice. It is on 50 amps, propane went south 3 days ago. No way to get propane. I have all electric heaters on. hot water in my house shower is frozen. in our city, we have our own electric utility. don't know if they belong to the major grid, but we haven't had any blackouts--and I just paid the bill. Its so cold, I don't believe coach or genny would start. Mike, it was December 25th, 2004 when it snowed on SPI. We were at the house we had here and got many good photos of snow on palm trees.

For those who might think we have it easy here onSPI, be aware that it in very low 30's and the forecast is for ice and snow later today. Now, I don't mean to say that our weather is anything like Ernie's of Ralph's, it is not. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for all trying to maintain some comfort in their coaches.

The bright spot for the day; we aren't in Chicago.

My Kansas in-laws are at Long Island just south of the bridge at Port Isabel.

And they're not happy.

My Primus refuses to fire and stay on and I'm not going to mess with it while it

Ron,

You are lucky you can run both heaters at once. I only have a 20 amp circuit in
the rented storage bay and I doubt that I could run them both at the same time.
Maybe if I shut down the fridge, ice maker and chargers? Any idea how many amps
that front heater draws?

Luckily, with our unique configuration, the little toe heater under the center
forward facing sink vanity pushes heat right into the kitchen area also. It was
actually a couple degrees warmer in the kitchen than in the bath and bedroom
last night.

On the downside, we either lost power overnight or got hit in those state
mandated rolling brownouts because the wife called a bit ago and said it was
only in the mid-30s when she went over to check it about 11am. So she raised
the t-stat up from the 50 where I had it and is waiting for it to warm up.

As far as I know the electic heaters Wanderlodge used were always 110 volt and 110v heaters are normaly 1500 wattsmax. That would put them at just under 14 amps on high. We are at Braunig Lake RV Park in Elmendorf, just a bit south of San Antonio.
No snow here yet but it's been just as cold here as anywhere else in the North
Valley area. In light of the forecast, the Park cut off the water 2 days ago
and gave us plenty of time to prepare. We have uninterupted 50 amp at the post,
3 toe heaters that are working splendidly and thanks to the hydronic heat,
plenty of hot water. We do put on the Aqua-hot in the early AM if necessary.
I bought this electric throw last summer and the wife laughed at me but she has
now become silent. I'll have to keep an eye on it.

The only real problem is the d@#^* Microphor. Can't wait to get it out of here.
