Brakes for CRV Toad

I am going to be picking up a 2005 Honda CRV to tow behind my 83FC35.

I am looking for recommendations for a braking system for the CRV. I
would like to do something that is permanently mounted in the CRV and
hooked up to the Bird's air brakes, not one of those portable units
like a Brake Buddy. My only requirement is it has to have a breakaway
system, but I think they all have this now. Thanks for your help.

This is what you discribed and it works great on my Jeep Cherokee.
It is car specific. They may have one to fit your Honda.
Many states require brakes over 3000#. Check the weight of the CRV.

Hi Phil,

I have used a Brakemaster on the previous toad which ties into the air
brakes of the coach and it worked well. The wife didn't like it
because it did require the installation of the actuating cylinder each
time. On the newer coach, we decided to change toads also and, to
please the wife, we got the unified tow brake from US Gear. It is
permanently installed and is hidden from view. Only connections are
through the six conductor cord that provides the power for the lights
and the cable for the breakaway. That cable is the only added
connection. We have been quite pleased with it. Bought it online
from an outfit in MO, I believe it was rvexit.com. They had the best
price...

I use the unified tow brake on my Honda Pilot and it does a great job.
I have used the same unit on 2 other toads I owned as well. Worth
considering.
