I don't currently have a phone subscription, so this looks more expensive than the cellular modem approach. Most available plans seem to stack network cost onto the data cost, plus the phone hardware and minutes cost??

Hate to pay a lot, then get no connectivity in the areas where I go. How are these systems in Q?

Thanks--

In past years reception has been pretty good at Q. Early am and late pm better.

. When the census swells to who knows how many, things get slow to zero. Of course, this was my only observance 3 years ago - maybe it has improved.

It all depends on Don Bradner. He is the internet provider there.

Not any longer. I do not have satellite service anymore, so nothing to share.

I have a DataStorm dish with wireless that I will give a password to Q attendees so other do not hook in for free. That is if we can get the dish to deploy (working on it right now) and lock in a signal. I plan to be at the Q on Friday the 17th, leaving Saturday morning the 25th.

Thanks, Tommy. I am good at troubleshooting Datastorm problems if it is still giving you problems when you arrive. We plan to be there on the 15th.

It appears to be the router(?) "dumped" according to a DS technician. When I was on the phone earlier yesterday, it was deploying and searching again. It should be OK. I'll let you know when we arrive.

Follow up:

Bought an Ellipsis Jetpack 4G LTE (Verizon) at WallyWorld for $60, plus 3GB/30 days no-contract single-payment of $60. Working well in this state park. Savings on camping fees over near-by full-service commercial parks equals cost in ~10 days. Speed/quality good so far. Used 0.3 GB in first 3 days.
