1978 FC 33 looking to service in Palmdale.

Hello Everyone.

I have been watching this board for a while now and decided that a
Bluebird was for me. So I found one and bought it this week. It has a
Crate motor with less than 3000 miles on it (3208 cat).
My biggest problem is that i know nothing about diesels. So I need to
find a place that I can take it to that knows what the are doing. I
want it to just be gone through being it sat for about 4 years with
only a short 150 mile drive per year.
Does anyone have any ideas on a service location in the Palmdale
location?

I should pay attention to the Subject Line. Year and model are there. Duh!

Please include your Bird Year, Model, and your location in your
signature. It helps us to help you.

There is a fairly new diesel place just before the 395 north splits off
the 15. It's on the north/west side of the 15. I no nothing about the
place other than I see it when I go by on my way to the river. Might
check them out. Another thought is to check with the truck stop there on
395.

Curt and Chris,

The place is called Commercial Engine, and they are a Detroit, CAT, and
Allison dealer. I had some routine maintenance stuff done on my BB there a few
yrs ago, and they treated me right.

My in-laws own a large truck body mfg business in Adelanto (water trucks,
lube trucks, dump bodies, etc) and have Commercial Engine do a lot of their
work on their used and trade-in vehicles readying them for sale. If you need a

Chris, I am a new lodge owner from California also. My Bluebird has
a Detroit but I had several dump trucks in the past with Cat 3208
power. I bought both with over 300,000 miles on them I used a mobile
mechanic Dave Rodrigues he was a former Johnson Cat (of Riverside)
mechanic his number from my old file is 951-798-5171 and 951-423-7970

Hello.

Well I climbed under it tonight and think i should
replace my Fuel line due to cracking, Maybe some hoses
and check my belts.
Tires are also on my list... It sounds like i have a
few dollars to spend.
But at least i have a coach that i feel is the best
built coach i could find. I am really happy to own a
Bluebird.
I think i am going to call Commercial Engine in the
morning. If anyone has any other suggestions please
let me know.

Chris,

If you asking if Commercial Engine has worked on my BB, the answer is yes.
They did a routine service (oil, filters, check brakes, batts, engine systems
test, etc). I also asked them to change the trans fluid...when I went to
pick it up (same day), they told me that the trans fluid looked fine, and would
change the fluid if really wanted them to, but they thought I'd be wasting
my money. This is coming from an Allison dealer. This sold me on Commercial
Engine.

As for the in-laws working on the BB, no need to at this point. Unless I
wanted something manufactured or welded, they are somewhat limited as to their
usefulness (motorhome-wise) to me. Good in-laws for the past 30 or so years
(we still do a lot of off-roading with all of them, not to mention a bunch of
other stuff-water skiing, snowskiing, snowmobiling, quadding, boating, etc).
