Perkins Generator Starter wiring
I have My 83 bird with my generator starter replaced but they forgot
where the wire are to be connected.

It is a perkins 12.5 KW Deisel. I was able to get it started by
connecting the wires the way I thought they should go. But the
generator stopped and would not start again. I need to know the
connections of the control wires, if someone can help it would be
appreciated.

Thankyou in advance

I havent got the drawings here for the generator but from what you told me
during our telephone conversation it appears that you have it connected
correctly since you started and stopped the generator more then once. I
would check the reset button on the control box and then try and start it.
Send me the color code of the wires that connect your starter solenoid and
where each is connected and I will check it against mine.

Perkins Generator Starter wiring
Larry:

I have the wiring schmatics for several of the models of Perkins/Kohler.
Need to know which model that you have. That information is on a data plate
on the slant bracket behind the engine to the Kohler. It should be a CCOP
or CCOPY with a modification number following like CCOPY-67. Let me know
which it is and I can copy the correct schematic and send it to via e-mail
as a .jpeg for you to print out. This will show you point to point wiring.

Safe travels,

I would check the fuel shut off electric valve if any? If you wired
it up ok the first time and it started ;just clean the wires and
check for damage and ground outs in those wires. If it turns over
strong and does not start I think it is fuel shut off; hot wire the
fuel shutoff from the battery and try to start it. Or hotwire the
fuelshutoff from a Portable battery jumper by grounding the neg. to
the block and running the hot to the Fuelshutoff If it has a full
amp battery and turns over slow, could be the new/rebuilt starter is
no good. remove the starter and have it load tested at Pepboys.
more info-- Fuel shut off if electric takes high power to open but
little to keep open, when you turn the on button you may hear the
fuleshutoff click open. when the starter is activated some times the
fuelshut off is robbed of power and closes due to weak wires ,
battry or poor connections. when you stack wires on a post both
sides of the wires must be clean I use a razor blade and sand paper
