Need a mounting base for '81 FC Ramco mirror
I pulled my drivers side mirror off to polish it, dropped it and
cracked (off) the part that attaches to the bus. Anyone have an old parts mirror around or a complete drivers side one that they would be willing to part with? Thanks, Tim Hannink Winter Park, FL 1981 FC-33SB |

No, its a 4-bolt base 8"w x 4"h. Definately look original, I didn't
see any other holes under the base. Need a mounting base for '81 FC Ramco mirror
If all else fails:
1-800-321-4819 Is it same 4 hole mounting as found on latest models? Think it may be called 7.25 Mount? But current model seems to have smaller bolt holes than my 2000LXi model, and use latest uses phillips, rather than the allen wrench, driven stainless bolts. Tim,
If all else fails, check with http://www.Ramco-Eng.com or 1-800-321-4819 and they are pretty good about parts availability. I talked to them once when I was making a spacer for their mirror. Bob Johannesen 91WLWB40 "Seldom Blue" Argyle, Texas. Tim Hannink No, its a 4-bolt base 8"w x 4"h. Definately look original, I didn't see any other holes under the base. Need a mounting base for '81 FC Ramco mirror
Hey Tim, I happen to be going thru the "mirror issue" as we speak on
our 86 FC. I purchased a new set of mirrors for RUBY and the hole pattern is very close and we all know "close is only good for grenades and ..The hole pattern on the present base as on John's coach is just about 1/4 inch off...just enough. The mount on our coach was made in Canada by a company called Canada Brass. That company has either gone out of business or quit making mirrors...mute point there are no longer any molds of our mirror bases. I have been working with RAMCO for some time and even sent them my bases. It appears that at one time mirrors bases were drilled/counter sunk simply by "eye balling" it. Thus making each installation unique. Heck the driver and passenger are different on our's. Bill Reed is handleing this adventure for me and we are getting close to getting the right dimensions after sending bases back and forth several times. He has been nothing less than a great guy..most mfg would have given up and sent my money back. We even joked that this was taking him back some 30yrs when he was first starting out and encountering all these problems. I am working with my second casting and just sent it back to them for re-drilling to try to get it to fit. My suggestion would be..if you can't find a replacement take the existing to a welder or a metal shop and see if they could weld it and polish it to match. If you contact Remco try to reach Bill to discuss this with him, the others may say it will fit ..but it won't. Need a mounting base for '81 FC Ramco mirror
Well I have a pair of 3-bolt brackets ('77 through mid-'83), but gave
away my last 4-bolt. Sorry. If they truly are Ramco, they are later mirrors. 4-bolt would indicate so also. Fortunately Ramco is alive and well making mirrors so you will likely be able to buy new if you can't find used. - Jeff Miller in Holland, MI --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Tim Hannink" > > No, its a 4-bolt base 8"w x 4"h. Need a mounting base for '81 FC Ramco mirror
Here is a photo of an '82 FC-35 with the same set of mirrors that
are on my '81: <http://www.vintagebirds.com/images/baird1.jpg> They even have the extra aluminum plate mounted to the top of the mirror for a stick-on convex mirror. I went out and looked over my mirror for a manufacturer or model number but only found the word 'JAPAN' stamped on the base (on the piece that broke off, imagine that). I would guess they are probably not Ramcos. There was also a set of aluminum wedges underneath each end of the mounting base to make them fit flush to the body; the mirrors evidently had less curve than the corner of the coach has. Need a mounting base for '81 FC Ramco mirror
On the other hand get a piece of stainless rolled to the correct radiius and use
it kind of like a washer under the replacement mirror to cover the holes that don't fit the replacement base, if well done it will look just fine. Them mirror bases are all over the map, welding and redrilling the bases is way to much like work. Need a mounting base for '81 FC Ramco mirror
Those are the late '83 FC mirrors / mounts. I can't remember the
vendor. They're around, occasionally one of us removes them to install power Ramcos, keep asking around. - Jeff Miller in Holland, MI --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Tim Hannink" > > Here is a photo of an '82 FC-35 with the same set of mirrors that > are on my '81: > > <http://www.vintagebirds.com/images/baird1.jpg> > > They even have the extra aluminum plate mounted to the top of the > mirror for a stick-on convex mirror. > > I went out and looked over my mirror for a manufacturer or model > number but only found the word 'JAPAN' stamped on the base (on the > piece that broke off, imagine that).
