Jeep Liberty Diesel Toad

Jeep Liberty Diesel Toad
We are getting ready to retire our 96 Ford Explorer with close to 200k
on it. We want to hear from people in this group about the Jeep
Liberty Diesel as a possible toad. I understand the engine is made by
Mercedes. We think we have to have a 4x4 so we can disconnect the
transmissions. Don't really have a need for 4x4 cability but guess
if we have to do a 4x4 to achieve it then so be it. If we can get
away with 2 wheel drive, I would be interested in it. I think that
Dan Darst is a Jeep Dealer. Where are you Dan, please contact me off
group with what you have and what you can do for me. We don't want a
gas burner. We want a diesel engine. We are using biodiesel in our
Dodge Ram 2500 and it works great but that is another story. I will
say, it cost me .95 cents a gallon if I discount my time and energy.
Sometime next year if we don't have any problems with our Dodge, we
will be running in our bird.

We have had a CRD Liberty since May?
The power is quite adequate and of course the rest of the vehicle is Jeep.
I anticipated being a little disappointed after a Grand Cherokee, but the
Liberty is very good,anywhere.Nice car.

My brother, Jay Darst is the Jeep dealer. I bot an 05 LWB Rubicon from him,
but would prefer it was a diesel. Still waiting for Jeep to make it. I think
when they stop making the 4.0 inline six for the wrangler and replace it
with the 3.7, that will be the time they offer the diesel in the wrangler.

Jim Scoggins,
Summer time,we have gotten 22 to 24mpg.
this winter so far have gotten 26 mpg max,but I am told it will get better
as the engine wears in.

Al,
I would love to hear more about the biodiesel. It sounds as though you are
making it yourself.
You can contact me off list at [truitt44 at bellsouth dot net].
