Ride Height

I pulled the PT out of storage and drove her to my house. When I was
sliding a piece of plywood under to catch any oil drips, I noticed the
rear most air bags. They seemed to be hyperinflated. I could see about
1.5 - 2 inches of a black ring, above were it was rubbed shiney on the
lower airbag pedestal (for lack of a better word, by pedestal I mean
the hour glass shaped thing the airbag slides up and down on.) The
airbag seemed to be at the top portion of the pedestal.

The airbag wasn't bulging or anything, but seemed to be more
"stretched". It may always be like this, and this is the first time I
noticed it.

I measured the ride height. The front was 17.75" (measured behind the
front tire) and the rear was 18.75" (measured in front of the drive
tire). The specs for the front height is 16" the rear is 18" (+/-
0.75" is OK) according to Bennie.

Questions:
1) Do I need to take this in to get it adjusted. On the 15th we leave
for Quartzsite, approx 900 miles round trip. Am I OK for the trip.

2)It seems like this is the lowest I can get the front, If I move the
front air valve rod (allen nut on the verticle rod) to lower the
front, it causes the valve to stay open and it exhaust air constantly.
I did change the ride height valve a few months ago. I'm wondering if
there is a newbie mistake I made.

BTW, I got the polarity monitor back from PMMI. I'll install it today
and give a follow up. John made a good presentation with pictures of
the removal process.

I check our 87PT38. Front 17", Rear 18-1/2" (both sides). Rear is to
be taller. Tag springs same as what you describe. I'd say you are good
to go.

One of these days can you measure your front ride height too? I can't
seem to get mine down to the 15.25" - 16.75" range.

Here is what Bennie said: Measure from the body to ground, behind the
front wheel, and forward of the rear drive wheel. For an '86 PT38 the
front height is 16" the rear is 18".

+/- 0.75" is OK.

So does anyone know why the rear is designed to sit higher than the front? I've
always wished mine looked level.

For an '86 PT38 the
front height is 16" the rear is 18".

+/- 0.75" is OK.
