300 HP FC's
What was different about the Cat 3208 used in the '87 FC to make it
produce more (300) HP? Can the 300 HP engine be retrofitted to older FC's? Thanks Scott Forman 82 FC35RB Memphis |

300 HP FC's
In '87 the Wanderlodge interior, chassis, suspension, and driveline
were significantly redesigned. The part that applies to your question is the chassis and the driveline. The 300hp 3208ATAAC engine is different in the injection pump, injector nozzles, turbocharger, and the addition of an aftercooler. It sits lower and further back in the '87-'89 and has the aftercooler pipes running over the top of the now shorter/lower radiator to the aftercooler mounted in front of it (which needed the engine moved back and the radiator moved down and back to make this happen). In addition, the MT-643 transmission on the 3208Ta and 3208Na is rated for a max. of 250hp, the 300hp 3208ATAAC has the ZF transmission rated for more power and tuned to the flatter-lower power curve of the 3208ATAAC. - Jeff Miller in Holland, MI --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Scott Forman" <sforman@...> wrote: > > What was different about the Cat 3208 used in the '87 FC to make it > produce more (300) HP?
