Bob:

We do have the Motosat dish. And we do have to set it up whenever we park. But
it's easy. Just push a couple of buttons and when the lights blink correctly
it's done. I've talked to a number of people who somehow hook their Verison
phone up to their computer and get fairly high speed internet. Of course only
where they can get their phone to work. I don't really know how successful that
is. And a lot of upscale RV parks now have wireless internet available. All
easy to receive but some not set up for sending. The Directv internet is slow
compared to our cable connection at home but beggars can't be choosers.

Regards.

>>Welcome Joe,

My question to you is we have DirecTV satellite but no internet
onboard. Presently living in our 84 fulltime and have Earthlink DSL
here in the mobilehome park where we park...Do you have a roof
mounted internet dish or a free standing dish that you have to set up
each time you want internet...I would love to have a roof mounted
unit without paying the 4 grand for a motosat.

bed. When we got there to take delivery they had put a Comfort Aire bed
in. A cheaper alternative. It wasn't bad sleeping on it but I had a
terrible time getting into it and constantly felt like I was going to
fall out. We complained and they immediately replaced it with a "real"
Select Comfort. Much better.

use that bed as an option on future Birds. If anyone has the opportunity
to talk to any buyers of new units you might suggest to them that taking
the cheapest bed available and ordering a real Select Comfort is the
better option.

Hi Ed. I've also heard good things about Verizon. Correct me if I'm wrong but
you also need to have a Verizon cell phone plan before they will give you the
best rate on internet connection service. Inquiring minds ya know. Any info
would be appreciated. Thanks

One does not need a cell phone, at least I was never questioned.

Rob, Sue,

You're right, we moved one of our cell phones to Verizon for $39.95 per
month (Carolyn's) to get the $59.95 rate.

Ed:

That's fascinating. As I said, I'm kinda stuck with the Motosat dish. I'd look
like a real fool paying all that money and not using it. But for those who
haven't gone with the Motosat because of the cost, tell us what the specifics of
the Verison Air Card are. How does it work? How does it hook to the computer?
Is the phone usable without LD charges all over the country? Inquiring minds
want to know

>>Re: Beds

I use the Verizon air card $59.95 per month and LOVE IT!!! I'm using it
right now in my sunroom at home whilst I do my taxes, etc.

I've used it all around the Southeast with connection everywhere I've tried
from isolated stops to downtown wherever.

Speed varies from about 100kbs to 1000 or more obviously depending on
Verizon's network - - which seems to be expanding.

The Verizon wireless internet service is $79.95 per month if you are
not a Verizon customer and $59.95 per month if you are. The required
AirCard costs from $49.95 to $179.95 to purchase. The AirCard fits
into the PC Card slot on your laptop. If you have a desktop, there is
an expensive but great alternative which I use. Kyocera just released
a wireless router with a slot to put the AirCard into ($299). You can
then connect by Ethernet cable to one of the four ports on the back or
connect wirelessly.

Speeds in the Broadband Access areas (primarily around major cities)
is very good 400+Kbps (Verizon claims 400-700). In other areas
(National Access) it drops to 50+Kbps (Verizon claims 60-80). Of
course if you can't get a cell phone signal, it won't work at all.

For someone who is traveling part time, it is a great alternative. If
you are traveling full time or spend a great deal of time in areas
where there is limited cell phone coverage, the MotoSat DataStorm
Internet system is still the best (but certainly more expensive)
option. As long as you have line of sight to the satellite (ie no
trees in the way) you will connect with good speeds (typically 700-
1,000 Kbps), regardless of cell coverage.
