30 AMP OPS
Hi Scott,

Many BB's are wiring in the manner I described so a
dog-bone splitter is unnecessary. Could you use one?
Yes, but why go to the expense?

If I understood the questioneer correctly, he was
using the auxilary connection only, not the main (or
so called 50amp) connection, or both (which is the
design).

What is important for folks to understand is, on
later model birds, this "auto-sensing" takes place,
with an inadequate explanation in the owner's manual
as to what actually happens to the second leg. The
gentleman was not charging because the Bird assumes
the "main" source of power will always be the main
connection. I'd be willing to bet, when BB engineered
the sensing, the group didn't consider an owner might
"only" power from the aux, or they would have built-in
a "dual-sensing" ability which would lift the one leg
only when two power sources were present.

And yes, this will be our first time since 1966 we
will be without a coach of some kind, and 20 years of
Birds - hopefully, for only a year. We planned on
home selling in a year or so, not a week. Big
scramble into a rental until we can buy or build
another home. Gosh, the stuff/junk we've accumulated!

John
