Where is your "Special Place" to find Solitude?
In your years of RV'ing,
you must have found a few select places that were absolutely outstanding,
jaw-dropping locations where you feel blessed to be alive and to have found ...
"this special place."

These places had/have all the following characteristics:
LOTS of wide open space,
with an expansive view of 'something'.
Silence........
no traffic noise, people talking or diesels warming up; just the whisper of a breeze, animal sounds or birds.
Solitude.....
like Edward Abbey said, " I find I enjoy nature most when there aren't a lot of people enjoying it with me".

Where is your "Special place?"

OK, Let's try and kick this off.

F.Y.I.

This is a FREE/Legal Dry Camping area
(accessible by a road -#279-that
any Class A RV can navigate easily) near Moab, UT.

It overlooks the Colorado River with views for miles.

RE: Where is your "Special Place" to find Solitude?
Frank, some of us find solitude many places and things. I, for one, get bored very quickly with solitude, and I have enjoyed many places of quiet all over this country. They were great, but, one must move on. I can go 10 minutes from my house, launch a pirogue into a bayou and find solitude. It is beautiful, and different. I moved from a large city to a small town about 50 years ago to find peace with myself(after Uncle Sam's employment), and have never looked back. I find solitude being with friends and what is left of my family. My solitude will come when I look at the grass from the bottom up.

Remember, different strokes for different folks.

Steve,
THAT is a FANTASTIC response
(one I wasn't expecting, I must admit, but it IS GREAT!)
Thank You & Congratulations.
I agree with you on a Philosophical and Personal level....
Solitude is where YOU find IT!
Friends & Family are the BEST PLACE to start!!!!!!!

I hope many others will chime-in and participate
.....(on ANY "level" !). Smile

ok , this is a deep question frank but after some deep thought here is what provides me solitude . Any activity or place that takes my mind off the grind of life . When I ride my bicycle after about 1 hour or so , I enter a place ,where I focus on breathing and the scenery around me . Its a place where I come in tune with my body and how amazing a machine it is ... hahaha , starting to sound like my wife here lol I guess we can use the forum for therapy also ?

Wow...pretty heavy philosophy.
I prefer "Relaxed Companionship" to Solitude.
It used to be anchored in a cove in the North Channel with my wife and pup. More recently... on the shore in Nova Scotia. isolated .. boon docked in the RV.

We live on the water and my morning hot tub with coffee, over looking the bay gives moments of bliss. But the list of chores blankets over that.

I think perfection would be using Al's Outdoor Resort site (No cost of course) for a month when the weather here STINKS.
