Power Steering and Hydraulic Engine Cooling Fan

I'm wondering how often others change the Power Steering and Hydraulic
Engine Cooling Fan oil and filters. The BB book calls for every engine
oil change (yearly or 20,000 miles).

Hi Curt:

I doubt that those fluids (30wt oil) are changed on that regular of a
schedule. There are 2 filters in the reservoir tank and available from
Napa. The yearly change seems a bit much to me as it is a closed loop
system and un like the engine or gen set oil change schedule, the power
steering and fan motor oil does or should not get as much contamination.
the 20,000 or even 30,000 miles seems to me, to be the better rule of thumb
for the changes though I am sure that many of the Coaches have not been
changed since leaving the Factory, just perhaps added to.

Thanks Ralph. I'm thinking the oil/filters have never been changed.
Might be a good thing to do sometime soon.

Power Steering and Hydraulic Engine Cooling Fan
Curt,
I change my hydraulic oil every 20,000 miles including the 3 (there
are 3 in my '85 anyway) filters
inside the tank and the external filter. The external filter is
about $85 and the internal filters are about $8 ea(there are 3 of
them).

Change the engine oil and filter every 5,000 miles. If the change is
procrastenated beyond 5,000 miles, it'll start using a quart in
1,000 miles. If changed in 5,000 miles maybe use 1 or 2 quarts
depending on use, high speed or hot temps will cause slightly more
useage.

Power Steering and Hydraulic Engine Cooling Fan
Does anyone have a source for the "O" ring that fits the high pressure filter
for this system? Was able to get the element, the $85 one, but can't find the
proper Parker "O" ring. BB said they don't have it. I took the old one and
tried to duplicate it. Installed one that was as close as the eye could
determine but it starting leaking after a couple of thousand miles. Any help
would most appreciated.
