Anyone here ever had their FC painted? What should I expect to pay?

My FC still wears the original bronze/brown/creme colors and, while the
paint is still in excellent shape, I am interested in changing to a
more modern color scheme. I am very partial to the blue/gray/silver
colors they put on the fater model FC's.

Any advice?

IMO a real exterior upgrade requires stripping EVERYTHING off the bus, goat
fence, tread place, ACs, vents, windows, wheel well rubber, every thing. Then
there is the paint and striping and the reassembly, all new stainless screws and
fasteners, resealing the windows, polishing every thing and installing rubrail
extrusion and all new weather striping for that. 20 grand would be a steal. If
you email me @ mhohnstein@... I will send you some pics of mine.

Hey Scott, You might want to contact Stephen Birtles on the forum. He
just repainted his coach and it looks pretty good!! He "soda blasted"
before priming and painting etc...

Hi Scott,

I had my PT40 sanded and repainted with an original scheme, using
Dupont Imron paint for around 10K. They also removed and machine buffed
wheels and chrome. I removed all awnings, hardware, head/tail lights,
etc.. and left the shop tape the windows and aluminum rails. If I were
doing it again, I would have removed the clearance lights and aluminum
rub-rails along the sides. Who ever does it, make sure that they paint
the jambs on your compartment doors. Some shops will just tape off the
coach and not worry about door and compartment jambs. I would recommend
painting the jambs with the darkest of the 3 or 4 colors that you
decide upon.

Scott,

I had my 35' GM bus conversion painted in Algodones, MX a couple of
years ago. They completely stripped it, did necessary body work,
primed and painted with three colors of R-M Diamint base coat/clear
coat. This is the same paint used on Caddies, BMWs and other high line
autos. I used Nararro's Shop in Algodones. We stayed in the coach
while they worked on it. Cost was only $5,000. Comparable jobs in the
US were priced at $17 - 24,000.

Re: [Wanderlodge] Algodones Paint Shops The only number I have is for
Navarro's Shop - it is a Yuma number which is better quality. (928) 343-2750
Ask for Enrique or Socorro.
They are the owners. There is a Mexican number but it is almost impossible to
get thru on. I don't have a number for Mannies shop.
