storage comparment door w/hydraulic struts

During colder weather, some of these struts seem to lose their
compression and won't hold the doors up. When the weather warms, they
are better. Do they need adjustment or are they just wearing out?

Any gas charged lift support that won't actuate in cold weather is low on
the gas that they are filled with.It is unlikely they will collapse
completelyright away.After a few years they lose pressure and when it warms
up,the gas expands and they work as though they were new. Replacement is up
to you, or if it is a bay that you use alot,you can switch the struts with a
bay that is not used often .

Fred, it has warmed up here lately and sure enough
they are still not working. I got a link to the Orr &
Orr Website from Ralph Fullenwinder and have ordered
some new ones. Installation sounds easy but to me all
that means is that it's easy for other people. I'll
post again with the outcome.

This is probably to late but I replaced all the interior overhead
cabinet struts this summer. I ordered them from my local dealer at a
cost of $10 each and they were a perfect fit. They have a great
selection and should have replacements available for the exterior
struts also. They have a great catalog available on the web site

Thanks Guys,

I ordered the 2 springs from Orr & Orr and had 'em in
3 days. As it turned out, they each have 200# of
compression and I quickly determined that I was in
over my head. Hired a local mobile RV guy and it took
him over 2 hrs to do it, wound up using a jack. He
went to school on me. Nothing is simple or cheap in
these Birds.
