Removing backup monitor

Removing backup monitor
My backup monitor appears to be the original monitor. I have replaced
the backup camera and it works great WHEN the monitor works. When I hit
a bump in the road the monitor goes fuzzy and/or goes out. I bang on
the dash and it comes on again. I assume there is a loose connection
somewhere, but I can't seem to figure out how to get to the back of the
monitor.

I removed the plastic cover and there are 4 hex head screws on the face
of the monitor. One screw is covered by a corner block for the screw of
the plastic dash cover.

I looked underneath through the CB compartment and there is a big
aluminum Z bracket that supports the monitor. Again, some of the screws
are exposed but at the other end of the Z they are buried.

All I want to do is reseat the connections and things should be good.

Any ideas?

Brian I am sure you have the three drawers to the left of the cb compartment
right? Take the three drawers out. There is a process for removing them.
Squeeze the black rubber-like protrusions you will find in the slides. Squeeze
and lift at the same time and the drawer will leave the rails. Once you have
all the drawers out look inside the drawer compartment and you will find screws
in the side walls. Remove these screws and the compartment shell will slide
forward and out. Under the compartment shell is the forward electric heater and
now would be the time to give it a good look over and vacuum all the dust
buggers out. Once the compartment shell is out you will have access to the rear
of the monitor and you will see a green (about 2 inches by 3/8") electric
connection. Pull the connection off and check it. Maybe clean contact surfaces.
Doing it this way you don't have to pull the monitor out through the dash. If
you decide to replace your system I have done this and will be able to help.

Removing backup monitor
Opps. I meant three drawers to the right of the CB compartment.
