To Jeff Miller or anyone else who might know about steeps

I have one small question and that is? The switch that looks like a
button that closes when the door is shut (Located on door frame). Is
there suppose to be power to both sides of this switch? Right now it
does and I was wondering why? What does this switch do when there is
power to both sides? Could this be part of the reason my steeps will
not return? Thanks Jon
