Yokohama tires.....Bridgestones, or???? Plus battery charging
Okay, its time I bought new meats for the 'Bird. Priced out some this week here
in Seattle, and this is what I found.

1) Yokohamas for the rear for around 425 each, good or bad deal?

2) Bridgestones and Michelins for 500, are they worth it?

3) Chinese tire called Three Star, or something like that, and they are the
cheapest option at 300.

I know we've had this discussion on tires before, but for some reason nothing
ever seemed to conclusive. I remember someone complaining that their Michelins
were garbage, and etc.

Also, i really blew it on my batteries. I The thread we had going on battery
charging taught me a valuable lesson, though a lil late. I overcharged them, by
alot. They now go down to 11.5 in just one day, and they're only a year and a
half old.

As to my new radiator, well it still cools to good. Can't get above 160 on the
flats, and a moderate climb brings it up to 170 plus, then quickly drops back
down.

What do you guys think I should do?! HELP!!!

Tony:

Don't go with Bridgestone/Firestone

Michelin are good but pricey

Yokohama are good tires, By the Way Yokohama is owned by Goodyear

Tires are expensive but when you stop to consider what happens when you
have a blow out, it becomes pretty cheap insurance. With a 300.00 tire, you
get what you pay for. which is not much

Hi Tony,

You are in the right part of the country. Go to Les Schwab... Got to
be one close. When we re-tired our Bird, They gave us a trade in
credit for our old Michelins (7 years old) and put eight new Toyo's on
at an average cost to us of $370. This was in OR where there is no
sales tax. Might be worth it to drive down to OR. Those Toyos rode as
well as the Michelins and have a stronger side wall. (5 ply vs. 2
ply). I have found Les Schwab to have the best prices and service I
have found anywhere in the US. Plus, I had them put "Equal" in the
tires. This way they are continuously balanced. Only way to go.

HAY TONY!!!!! I bought my tires at Les Swab in Bremeton six months
ago and the back four cost me around $1300.00. I could have gone out
and paid that much for two Michelins but why? I kind of figured it
out that in seven more years I will haft to replace these because of
the DOT Dates. So why spend thousand of dollars for the high price
spread when these are just as good. Oh yes and Les Swab will check my
tires out anytime I want them to. That includes air filling. Jon

I've been using Yokohamas for the last 6 years successfully and they
are cheaper than the other brands.

Hey Jon!! Back at ya! How's your WanderBarge? Its been awhile since
I've been to Bremerton, maybe I'll float over there on my new tires!

Originally I called Les Scwab, heck, I work and live a block from the
one here in Ballard, but they told me to call there other sore on the
south end, who in unlike their normal awesome kickbutt customer
service fashion, had very high prices....

I will try them again, since its been over a year since I called
them. I also thought of Oregon, or British Columbia, and am still, but
I like to shop local.

I've got Toyos now, but no complaints. Though the Yokohamas are
running in first place right now.

Well Gotta go take my Sis to the airport, shes headed to Belize, me,
,I'm stuck in Ballard....
