Specific Question on 87 - 89 FC's.
Fellow Travelodgers,

I've been doing lots of research as I prepare to start shopping for a
FC Travelodge of my own.

Does anybody know if the 87 - 89 FC's had an option for central air
conditioning? Did they only come with roof air units? I can't seem
to find any information on this...

I'm 6' 4" tall and hope to build a roof platform on my bird. Two very
good reasons why a central A/C bird is better for me.

It appears that between 87' and 89', the biggest generator you could
get was 8,500 Watts. The generator box was also made smaller and
moved to the drivers side of the coach. I imagine this location is
very nice as you won't hear the noise of a generator running as you
sit under the main awning.

However, I wonder if an 8.5 K generator could run all three
compressors in a central air bird. It appears that only two roof A/C
units were available in 87 - 89. So maybe it was never an option...

The 300 HP 3208 and the 5 speed transmission are two more good things
about the 87 to 89 FCs...

The main drawback however is the cost. The 87 - 89s appear to be
about 20K more expensive than earlier 80's units. I wonder if the
added cost is worth it....

Anybody have any thoughts/experience in this?

Thanks again!

The '87-'89 WLFC was not available with central A/C. It was however
available with the 12.5w genset on a slide, streetside, and a third
roof A/C was optional, both are rare. The streetside location is
nicer for sitting outside, but not as nice in the bedrooeh m as the
genset is under the bedroom, minor point.

Yes the '87 is nicer than the previous year, '88-'89 nicer still. Is
it $20k nicer? Only if you have it.
