Anyone using synthetic oil in their CAT 3208? I've been using Shell
Rotella synthetic in my Mercedes diesels for some years and am
planning to put it in the Cat when the oil needs to be changed. Thoughts?

Kerry IMHO I think you should change your engine oil regularily with good old
Dino oil and save your money for synthetic for tranny and rear end. That's
what I've been doing for years with all my vehicles.

I change my oil regularly but I find a significant advantage in cold
starting with synthetics. Probably added 20 degrees of range to
unaided winter starts in my MB's. Synthetics also hold up better in
extreme heat conditions.

Yes I agree. I forgot about those folks living in the frozen reaches. I try
not to take my bird or myself anywhere where temp extremes are likely.
