Gen water temp guage fuse

[iwander_85pt40]

Anybody know if there is a fuse between the generator water temp
sender and the co-pilot guage on the 85PT40?

The guage worked normally in previous operation, and quit showing the
temp reading after the last startup. I don't want to start replacing
parts until I've checked the obvious.

First thing to check is the connection on the sender. Ground the wire
to see what the gauge does.

[iwander_85pt40]

Engine cold, sending unit wire disconnected: 12 volts thru a
voltmeter->wire to ground; no resistance->sender terminal to ground;
guage pegs far right when terminal wire grounded.

Engine at operating temperature (half hour+ run), sending unit wire
disconnected: no voltage thru voltmeter (wire was connected to
sending unit during warmup); no resistance->sender terminal to ground;
guage does not move when terminal wire grounded.

There is a jumper wire from the oil pressure guage to water temp guage
that I assume is 12 volts(I haven't tested it). The oil pressure
guage operation is normal.

Teleflex has a great troubleshooting guide,
Go to
http://ww2.tflx.com/ then tech support.

Most of the gages in the BB are on this web site.
This will guide you through the circuit until you find the problem
Sounds like a sensor or ground wire.
