Wiring question

Wiring question
on our 77 210 n/a
there is a wiring loom under the alternator which contains numerous
wires including hot for alternator
in this loom there is a light green wire does anyone know what this
wire is for it is broken off at the engine end, and I would like to
know what I have to fix next along with the runaway alternator which
seems to be a seperate problem.

Wiring question
I believe your 77 FC came with a Motorola alternator with an external
voltage regulator . The extra wired go to the external regulator
that is mounted over the batteries against the back wall towards the
front. The regulator is a prestolite 8RH2924 12v 4 amps. You
probably now have a leece-Neville with an internal voltage regulator
so the extra wires are no longer used.

still has a oem motorola with internal regulator never a leece neville
wire is broken wire that does not reach alternator

it has original oem motorola internally regulated alternator no
external regulator

Wiring question
Stephen, I have (3) wires coming out of the cloth wire
loom that you mention, a White, Dk Blue, and Lt Green.
The Lt Green goes to the fuel solenoid.
The White and Dk Blue wires go under the alternator down
the front and attach to the tach and temp senders, which
to which I do not know? All (3) have butt connectors with
a different color wire continuing.

I had an alternator shop add an insulated stator post to
the Motorola to get away from the DC tach which is
expensive and doesn't give continued service.

I was just in the front recently and don't remember any
other wires. All three would go to the instrument panel
and it's possible someone used point-to-point connections
not caring about colors, yours or mine.
