FC Generator Drawer Latch...Looking For Ideas

While I'm sure back in 1984 it was all the rage to lay in the dirt to
unlatch the generator drawer on your $200,000 Wanderlodge, I'd like to
do it differently. Besides, the latch on mine was damaged by the
previous owner and seems that I recall they are no longer available.
Correct?

I have seen what John Finn did with his with welded on tabs and pins
up where you can get to them and it looks like a good idea to me.

What have the rest of you done?
