Generator slide will not open and Generator will not start

86PT38- Generator stopped running driving down the road last week.
Restarted it and it stopped again after about 60 seconds. Went to check
the fluids and generator would not slide out. Checked power at the
switch and it was ok. Switch just clicks when i push it. Checked
battery and it is good. Any help would be great.
