WHOO HOOO !!!!!
I just booked flights to Florida to purchase & pickup our first BB
Wanderlodge ;-)
It is a 1978 FC 33' currently owned by James DeAngeles.
We are thrilled to find such a nice Wanderlodge and look forward to
years of fun with our new purchase!
Sarah and I live in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The last RV we owned was when the 3 kids were younger.
Now the better half (wife & boss), dogs & I are eager to have fun
traveling & camping with our new Wanderlodge!

Todd & Sarah,

Welcome to the WanderlodgeForum and Congratulations on your purchase.
Your "new-to-you" Bird is on the front page as Bird of the Week for
this week. Based on the assortment of pictures James sent in, you got
a nice one! May you have many happy trips in it.

Todd and Sarah,

That is a nice bus. I know because I sold it to James and did alot
of the work that was done to it. If you have any questions of its
history, let me know.

Hello David
Yes, of course I would like to know all the history with this bus.
James has been helpful and up front with its condition & history.
As time goes on I'm sure I'll have many questions.
Whether it be it's history, up keep, repairs, places to travel & get togethers.
Thanks.

Todd and Sarah,
My wife and I flew to Florida from New Jersey to see James'
coach. We visited him on Sunday and did a complete walk through with
James and took it for a drive. I also had a person I hired to
evaluate it come with us. I didn't ask his permission to use his
name so I won't mention it, but he was a knowledgeable and provided
some enjoyable conversation along with his advise. The coach is a
real winner and the price is definitely low for the condition. My
wife and I have only tent camped and gone for a cross country trip
in a van (a long time ago) so we are new to the BIG RV. We basically
chickened out at in the end. It was only a short time ago that my
wife and I came to an agreement on buying an RV, and James' coach
was such a great buy that I had to see it. In the end I need to do a
lot more research and learn a lot more about the systems before I
dive in. I will buy one, but maybe not this year.

James' coach is a magnificent example of a Bluebird. The interior
is impeccable and the exterior is in unbelievable condition. I
climbed up to the roof in very hot weather with the sun bearing
down, and the surface was barely warm to the touch. James used a
paint he obtained form some NASA friends that somehow insulates from
the heat.

The bottom of the side mirror is ecstatically the same height as
my forehead, and I have the scar to prove it!

So you owe me for declining to purchase. Keep the forum updated
with your adventures. You have a great coach.

Gardner,
The bottom of the mirrow has caught a many fellow not thinking. I bet if you had
a room of 100 bird owners over 75 could tell and show you their scars. An there
are plenty of other places in and around a Bird to ding the noggin. I wear a
Marine Corp summer hard hat for protection.

Howard,
Thanks; I kind of figured I wasn't the first to scar my forehead. I tell
all my cohorts at work that the bottom of the mirror on a Wanderlodge is
this high while I point to the scar. I'll live, and I didn't call my lawyer
either.

New Wanderlodge Owners !!!
Gardner,

Hey... you just have to dive in and start swimming. Last December, my
wife and I decided that we (1) had to move closer to her elderly
parents to assist them with old age matters and (2) we would do this
by full timing in an RV so that we wouldn't get 'stuck' providing
daily care by living too close by. (Note: My wife's parents are
sufficiently well-off that they can afford to hire as much help as
they need and/or can afford to move into an assisted living facility,
should they so desire. They do need family to lend a hand and help
them from time to time, but they do not need (nor want) daily care
from us...)

So, by January I was looking at RVs and had determined that a bus
conversion or Wanderlodge would be my preferred choice --- and a
Wanderlodge had many points in favor as compared to a bus conversion
(I did not want to convert the bus myself). In May, a Wanderlodge
that had previously been owned by a member of this list was put up on
eBay by Mr. Oliver's, a used RV dealer located near Dallas, TX.

I was the successful bidder (it was a good price) and, essentially,
purchased the vehicle sight unseen. (I exchanged some messages with
the previous owner, so I felt that I had a fairly good understanding
of the condition.) At the conclusion of a long-planned business trip
to the east coast, I flew to Dallas and picked up the coach on May 22.

The last time I drove any heavy equipment was when I was in the Army
nearly 40 years ago... I had also last used an RV a similar time
ago... I rented one for a couple of weeks back in 1967 or 1968.

Our house is being prepared for sale and we will move into our
Wanderlodge as soon as the house sells.

My wife regrets "accusing" me of lacking spontaneity ... sometimes
you just have to jump into a new lifestyle...
