82/83 was before they started putting receiver assemblies on the Birds. I think
the actual platform hitch assembly was the same on both as I recall. Could be
that the load rating difference you are reporting be related to the fact that
the 82PT had the 6V92 "Red" engine rated at 300HP and the 83 PT had the 6V92
"Silver: at 330HP (and more torque).
