5.9 Cummins w/ 540 Allision
Has anyone installed a 5.9 Cummins w/ a 540 Allison into early 31'

I looked over an 83 35' rear bath that had a real clean 5.9 install. He used
the 643, claimed no loss in power and 10 mpg, however he expected some one to
give him 50 grand for the rig, that needed paint, interior work and tires.
He claimed it was a 2001 electronic. From my perspective, an 8.3 and a 4060
Allison would be a better deal, just find a totaled truck and get busy.

5.9 Cummins w/ 540 Allision
I was looking at the 5.9 because of the weight factor. My Bird came
with a Ford 391 and I did not want to change any front springs etc.

81FCRB THIS WINTER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE AFTER THE BIG MOVE AGAIN FOR THE
ARMY TO ARKANSAS......iF ANYONE KNOWS A REAL SHOP THAT IS NOT SCARED
IN LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS LET ME KNOW BEFORE IT DO IT IN THE WOODS!
ALSO LOOKING FOR A GOOD DEAL ON A 6SPD WORLD TRANS TO MAKE T
HAT BUS FLY!

5.9 Cummins w/ 540 Allision
Woody, I found the best way to do a swap is to find a Donar rig and
swap the entire engine trans cooler and computer in. If the new
engine has electronics it works best to do a complete donar swap.
Nothing to match up, you can even have a drive shaft end changed to
match the output from the tranny and keep the other end hooked up to
the BB U's and rear. Put in a M11 with a computer, 10 speed and
jake.

i wish i was rich then i would buy a 2007LX
but because im po and cheap i will use this forklift mtr and turn it
up to 300hp-750t and let the trans handle it because im just a
little over its 275hp-725 rating......

and that m-11 will go in a pt if i ever get 1
because im not driving a gm/detroit product ever again.

will buy a BMC for sure if and when i upgrade just for the mtr.
