FC Power Steering
I have read many comments about the FC power steering pump being
inefficient. Mine appears to be on its last legs. What's the word on a replacement? Should I get the same pump, or is there an upgrade? Scott Forman 82 FC35RB Memphis |

Scott,
One place to check with is Babs Steering. Talk with their technical guys. http://www.babsteering.com/ Curt Sprenger 1987 PT38 8V92, Anaheim Hills, Calif. FC Power Steering
Check the temperature of your fluid before acting. I found mine to be running
at 228 degrees. This is too hot and will reduce the life of the components. I used a non-contact thermometer. Standard temperature for PS systems is 150 degrees. So, if yours is running hot, rerouting the hoses or adding a cooler would be an upgrade. Also synthetic PS fluids can handle the higher temperatures better. I think relocating the reservoir might be useful but I have not found an adequate place to relocate it apart from in place of the AC compressor.
