BLUEBIRD MINI RALLY AT MAXTON, NC
I want to remind you that we will be having the second Bluebird Mini-
Rally at Maxton, NC this year, to coincide with the Land Speed races
that are run there by the East Coast Timing Association on the Maxton
Monster Mile. I will be arriving at the track on next Thursday Sept.
21, 2006 around 1pm and as usual if you get to the town of Maxton
early you can wait at the Food Lion Grocery store at the exit, leave
your CB radio on channel #19 and I will give you a call when we get
to the southern edge of town, so you will have time to get ready to
follow us from there to the track.

For more information including a map and driving instructions to the
track go to;

http://www.pbase.com/rdupree1/image/54596606

Follow the directions on the flyer, to see the other information,
maps, directions and photos of our previous mini-rallies there.

Barbara Vaughn is again making a list of those attending so be sure
to let her know that you are coming and she is also making up the
list of items needed for the food, her phone number and email address
are on the flyer.

If you need to, you can call me on my cel phone at 803-315-
2368....SEE YA THERE!!

BLUEBIRD MINI RALLY AT MAXTON, NC
Leroy, they are just that land speed records. East Coast Timing
Association. Many of the racers go to the salt flats. Many of these
guys hold land speed records for their respective class of vehicles.
A couple of forum members go to Maxton and have records for their
vehicles. They race at a closed airport "Maxton NC" and on a closed
runway. It is a timed race. If you have never seen a motorcycle run
almost 260mph it is truly cool.

The guys racing take it very seriously, I guess at over 200mph you
should...bad things happen quick.

We (the coaches) park in an area together and have tons of fun. We
eat like kings (bagles and smoked salmon, compliments of
some "northern" BlueBirds) and laugh like jesters. Actually it is a
really fun event. NOT LIMITED TO BLUEBIRDS. Come one Come all. Not to
mention the "other sites" the closed airport is used by the milatary
as well. Last spring way after dark Blackhawks were doing touch and
go's. Really neat, some say they were just cleaning the track off!
Year before the "halo jumpers" were there.

Great event if you can make it. Never know what you might see.

BLUEBIRD MINI RALLY AT MAXTON, NC
For those of you that still can't figure out why we get all excited
about the races at Maxton, check out these videos, from the race at
Maxton, during our last Bluebird Mini-Rally there;

http://www.svspower.com

Click on these Video titles;

"Worlds Fastest Viper in the Mile" (ride along inside for the record
setting run)

"SVS wins Hot Rod Top Speed Challenge!" (trackside view of two Land
Speed runs)

These record setting runs at Maxton are all done in a standing start,
to one mile electronically timed run and are recognized as World land
Speed Records in the standing mile, very similar to those set on the
Bonneville Salt Flats, but only for the standing mile.

In my opinion it is the best $5.00 you will ever spend for the entire
weekend rally, that you will ever attend.

BLUEBIRD MINI RALLY AT MAXTON, NC
Mike,

I'm sorry to hear that you and the boss are not feeling well and we
will miss you at Maxton. The few of us remaining here at Myrtle
Beach, Guy Smalley and his family along with the rat rod, Jay and Dan
Darst and their wives, along with myself will be leaving here next
Thursday morning 3/29/07 at 11AM heading to the Bluebird Mini-Rally
held during the Hot Rod Magazine Top Speed Challange on the Monster
Mile at Maxton, NC. We will stop at the Harbor Freight retail store
and warehouse on I-95 at exit #190 (Dillon, SC) at around 1PM to meet
up with more 'Birds and then head to the track at around 2PM.

We will also meet up with more 'Birds at the Food Lion in Maxton at
the US 74/NC 71 exit on our way through town, we will be monitoring
channel 19 on the CB radio, so be listening for us as I will let you
know when we are coming into Maxton from the southside of town and
you can then fall in line as we go by, there will not be enough room
for all of us to stop and pick you up, so be ready.

For more information, go to the flyer at;

http://www.pbase.com/image/70827761

IF YOU CAN'T READ THE SMALL PRINT, SCROLL DOWN BELOW THE FLYER AND
CLICK ON "ORIGINAL" AND THAT WILL ENLARGE THE FLYER FOR YOU.

Be sure to write down my cel phone number found on the flyer and give
me a call if you need more information, follow the instructions on
the flyer and you will find a map also. From what I understand we
have 15 'Birds that have indicated that they are coming, so far.
