Pete: I failed to tell you the easy way to identify the length of your stud.
Take one out and carefully scrap the paint off the top of the Phillips head.
There will be a number on it. Mine was 4. I had to use a mag glass to see it.
Eyes are the first thing to go I'm told. Any other parts going to @#$%doesn't
sound like any fun. Depending on the thickness of your seal your number should
be between -4 and -6.

Ok, to ensure we're talking about the same thing:

The phillips head diameter is (approx) 1/4 inch. The stud shaft is
1/8 inch in diameter. The distance to the pin (from the head) is
about 7/8 inch and about 1/8 inch extends past the pin. (So the
overall length is about 1 inch.) The spring is about 3/8 inch with
about 5 turns in that distance.

I didn't examine the fitting close enough to note that it could pass
through at an angle... but that certainly makes sense.

I found the data sheet for the 2700-4s at AircraftSpruce.com ... and
the price matches, so I guess that's where you found them as well.

I'll take a close look at the studs tomorrow and probably replace all
of them with stainless* as well... mine are showing a bit of rust,
but most have the head painted to match the coach.

*I replaced the Southco latch on the radiator door with stainless
(with a screwdriver/coin slot instead of hex key) after I had to
drill one out due to corrosion.

Leroy, I got to admit, you've got a lot better eyesight than I have!
The number is barely noticeable ... but with a strong magnifier, I
was able to make out a "6" on the one from my coach.

You might be right about the eyes being the first to go.... I can't
remember what else might go first ... but give me a moment, it might
come to me... ... uh, let me think.... it's almost on the tip of my
tongue....

OK, you have a -6 probably about 11/4 to 11/2 inch long. Is that about right?
Did you have a six tooth internal locking washer?

I have to pop the panel off again to take a look... I have the broken
stud here by the computer (it broke at the cross-pin). Perhaps I'll
have time on Saturday to open it up.

Does anyone recall changing their front panel fasteners from the below post? Are these a direct replacement or require some modification to make fit?
