Great idea. Ashtrays have always been, in our coaches, catch alls- mostly for
coins. Gonna put some rock salt brine in my holding tanks tomorrow for the
upcoming , short lived 11 degree temps.

cup holders
Back in 1978 all bottles were the same size, they all fit the cup
holders in the Bird and life was good. Then along came Snapple,
super size soda bottles, water bottles and Starbucks Super Grande 50
gallon drum coffee cups . So it was time to upgrade the retro cup
holders. I went to a boat store and found just the right size
holder. Boat prices, but I was desperate!

I brought the center console into my wood shop (now filled with old
rusty Suburban propane heater parts, sticky air valves, cans and
bottles of cleaners, waxes, oils, transmision fluid, power steering
fluid, and many other non-working, but can't bring myself to trash,
parts)

I was about to enlarge the existing holes and jamb my new 'boat' cup
holders in, when it dawned on me that there are two ashtrays in the
console. Neither my wife nor I smoke, so what do I need these for?

So I took out the ashtrays, enlarged the holes and stuffed my new,
bigger cup holders in. Now I have two large and two standard cup
holders. No matter what size bottle or cup I have I can have a nice
fit and not have the smaller cups and bottles rattle around like a
flea in a boxcar in the new, bigger cup holders.

So that's how I spent my day. Along with a half dozen other small
repairs and wiring upgrades.

What did you do this weekend?

Folks,

The subject was cup holders and Bird projects, please lets keep
it that way. I never saw it but the offensive post is gone, let
sleeping dogs lie.

Julie, good for you in standing up. I don't believe the post was
sincere, but it reveals the posters cup has little to hold. Dont ease
up, always stand up.
