I tend to think there is no right answer here. It is so very
dependent on the particular circumstances that a pat answer is
probably dangerous. Speed, angle of attack, obsticles, etc. and why
you left the road in the first place all must be considered. So the
main secret is to drive at a safe speed for the road and conditions,
keep a safe distance and use your head if such a situation arises.

comming fast to get around me in my slow diesel motorhome......kind
of a good samaritan thing(lawyers can be good too!)...anyway the
shoulder ran out on me and ..I almost had a real disaster but made
it through it....a few klicks down the road, there was the "fast"
semi at a roadhouse for coffee...right then I vowed to never go off
the road just because I was slow...let em pass or let em wait until
I can safely pull over.....
