Need some advice from you long time birders:
Has anyone thought of/or tied in there "security lights" to the burglar system
on their coach.?
I was thinking of tieing it in only when the security switch is operated, but
still be able to use the landing/parking lights as required.

Hi Bill,

I haven't done it but it is very easy to do; just wire a small relay
to jumper the security light switch. Use the alarm 12V output to
activate the relay coil. Since the security lights already have a
large relay that is activated by the security switch, a small, low
current relay to jump the switch is all that is necessary. When the
alarm is not activated, all will work normally. Hardest part would be
running the wires from the alarm output to the security switch.

Have you thought of what might happen if you alarm the system when
boondocking or not connected to shore power and you are away? This
could very quickly run down your batteries if you are powering via inverter.

No reason not to, provided the relay will time-out and turn them off
so that it doesn't drain the battery when the coach is not attended.

Good point Jeff. I was just thinking of when the security light switch is
activated, but I guess it could go both ways. What an idea.
Thanks

Tom;
Well it was just a question, and you bring up a good point. Jeff also responded
and mentioned that a timed relay should be installed.
Just wondering what others would think, and goodness, like always lots of good
advice here.
Thanks
