Alternator Wiring Question
I have owned my coach for 3 years and it was originally designed for
only one bank of batteries. The prevoius owner added a starting battery and spit the battery banks with each battery bank being serviced by one alternator each. As near as I can determine, my dash amp gauge only reads the output from the alternator serving the starter battery. I have an add on battery monitor for the house batteries. I just finished changing batteries and both my alternators because one was not working and the other was a 130 amp "reman" which was several years old. I replaced them with new 160 amp Leece-Neville units. I also note that none of the 3 "stator" connections on the front of the alternators are being utilized. Can anyone share information on how are some of the newer coaches, which came from the factory with two battery banks, are wired in regards to the alternators ? Do they have two amp gauges and do they utilize the stator connections on the alternators ? Thanks David Hanvy 89WB40 Crosby, TX |
