Leaning Coach
Hey gang, nice to see activity again with timely responses! "Ruby" our
86FC35 is experiancing some "leaning" issues. The coach seems to list
to port when aired up not bad but noticable. When airing up she seems
to air up to starboard noticably then the driver side starts to come
up. I dumped and filled the suspension several times to see if
something is "sticking" but to no avail. When I dump the suspension
the starboard side goes down quickly and then the port side starts
down..This seems to be a new problem and not been as "noticeable" in
the past. When fully aired the coach still leans ever so slightly to
port...now I know I am much larger than Judi ..but should that really
matter...hmmm Smile

Scott,

There are three height control valves which control leveling of the
coach. Two in back and one up front. The rear ones control the side
to side issues as well as the height of the rear while the front
controls the height of the front.

The valve for the left rear is located near the axle and can be
quickly identified by a 6" or so long rod that sticks down from it,
about the diameter of a pencil. The right side is directly opposite
from it.

It sounds like the valve is either sticking, dirty, has a dirty
exhaust port, or has slipped in adjustment for some reason. The
adjustment is done by removing the set screw on the rod and pushing
the rod up to make the coach come down, or down to make the coach go
up (I think). You can mark the position, loosen the set screw and
work the valve around a bit to see of it frees it up. Lube it also.
If not you may need to disassemble and clean it.

Many ways to go at it. Definately block the coach up somehow if
you're going to play under there on this one!

Normal ride height for the rear is 20" as measured from body to ground
in front of the wheel well. Front is 19" behind wheel well.

Gary, thanks for the reply, how do I go about "cleaning" the valve??
I guess I am preparing for the worst when I start, or should I
consider purchasing new valves?? I really dont like getting under
the coach I have enormous respect for it,..could it be fear?? mebbe.
