Vinyl eraser

I want to remove the old, faded, cracked vinyl from my bird.
There are rubberized wheels to be used in an electric drill which are
suppopsed to help considerably. I also saw a larger wheel for use in a
power buffer that claims to work 10 times faster. The little wheel is
about $23, the 'Big Eraser' is $149. The idea is that it will lift the
vinyl but not damage the paint as long as you keep the speed down and
don't press too hard. They also provide plastic razor blades to get
the stubborn pieces loose.

Has anyone used this kind of wheel to remove vinyl? Did it really
help? Did it last more than 5 minutes?
