Ed: I don't think there is glee in the postings. Actually it is
very sad and a fact that has to be reckoned with. The RIV was always
the highlight of the year in the past, but it has been diminished by
higher pricing for attendance, higher fuel costs, less activities and
shorter rally along with the fact that most of the activities haven't
changed in years. As I said: No glee here because I feel a
significant loss.

Probably many have received the invitation to the RIV. It included a cd showing
factory production.

The written material had interesting fact-"4000 birds have been built and only
two are not still on thru road".

Fee for the RIV for two will be $499. Maury 80fc 31'

I'm sure there are more than two, not still on the road. What Brenda
Rodgers (former BlueBird Employee) told me was that they knew where
all but two bird are located. I'm sure there are some in junk yards
somewhere. I could be wrong, but that is what I was told.

Is the prodcution number accurate? Have there really only been 4,000
WL's produced in 40+ years?

Scott, That number, from what I've been told by various factory
contacts is probably close, it could be even less. The "2" not on the
road is suspect, in my opinion. I know that in the early 90's this
number was quoted often. Since that time their have been losses due to
fire and possibly other causes as well. I met the owners of an early
80's coach that had been in a wreck and was restored over a several
year period. He had substantial documentation and claimed that before
he salvaged his coach there were 3 unaccounted for Birds. Even if the
number is a dozen or so, that is an amazing tribute to the quality of
construction over the years.
