Not Much Luck Buying Tires for our WL in San Antonio, TX :(
Howdy.
Jack made the rounds of the tire dealers in San Antonio about 3 weeks
ago. Most shops wanted to push whatever was in their inventory. Mostly
Kuhmo tires. Jack doesn't know anything about that brand. The price on
Goodyear tires was over $4K. Jack went back to the only shop that was
even willing to try and order tires. Well, Sumitomo tires(what we have
and would like to buy, again) can't be had in the state of Texas, now.
Jack ordered a set of Firestone tires. Comments, ideas would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Liz, discouraged

I'm not in Texas but recently purchased Sumitomo tires. Why aren't Sumitomo
tires available in Texas, most everything else is?
I did have to order them and wait 3 days.

Liz,
Kuhmo tires have a pretty solid reputation. Discount Tires has a mailorder
service. I've had Micheline, Toyo and Yokohama tires tires on RV's and they all
did okay. As discussed earlier in this forum, I think a lot of coach owners
will have a wide range of opinions on tires. But the common denominator is
maintenance of the air pressure. If you can accept a firmer ride, your tires
will run cooler, last longer and give you better fuel economy no matter what you
by. Costco and Sams also sell RV tires at many locations. Brad Barton 00LXiDFW

I just put on 8 new Firestone FS400's on my WB40, so far so good,
not enough miles to talk about yet. I replaced some pretty worn out
and over extended Michelins. I paid $3999 for 8, mounted, balanced,
FET, etc.

Hi Sailor boy. I believe the 315s have a little wider footprint and not as
tall as 12s but not entirely sure.

Not Much Luck Buying Tires for our WL in San Antonio, TX :(
Rob,
When researching, (another thought came to mind) the specs for the 315 was you
needed a 9" rim, that is why I did not look into them at the time... Did you
change over to 9" rims, or were they already on the coach???

Hi Sailor boy. I believe the 315s have a little wider footprint and
not as

tall as 12s but not entirely sure.
