Possible Bird Restoration Project

Looking at the pics, I would wonder if the thing had been in a flood.
The underside is very rusty including the jacks.
Either it was in a flood or it was run on salt roads.
Haven't seen a rig that bad underneath since looking at an 18 wheeler
for sale that had been recovered from Katrina.
Maybe gen set doesn't work cause water got into it.
I would pass in my opinion and look at the many FC's that don't need
the major bucks that this one would need.

Well he sold it for 12k+. Go figure. I hope it is worth that much to
the new owner. Meanwhile I'm back on the hunting trail.

Mike, There is no figuring eBay. I have one collector car which is
worth maybe $7500 and it is nearly totally restored. Just saw a
basket
case same year same model which needed at least $10,000 to make it
right sell for nearly as much as mine would bring. I am convinced
from
my experience that there are people who want a project and look at
cars
and such as a challenge. If they bought a fully restored one what
would
they have to and the "work" must be "fun"? I tend be middle of the
road and I would not want to take on a project that involved but
thankfully there are those who would. I have seen similar BB's sell
for
similar money. I question if I would have taken them if they were
free. To each his own. PS I pick mine up Friday and
should
have it home Sunday so lets hope I don't have the "fun" the owner of

I have a Bird restoration project that my wife would like someone else to
take over. We are the second owners and have owned this 1976 31' side bath
Wanderlodge since 1983. It has 60- or 70,000 miles on a Cat-factory
remanufactured non-turbo 3208 engine and about 50,000 on a factory
remanufactured
Allison 4-speed automatic transmission. The chassis has about 300,000 on it --
yes, we drove it a lot until the last few years.

It needs paint and a lot of smaller items fixed. The interior is good and
original except for curtains and dinette recovering . Each rear twin bed has
a pair of matching upholstered bolsters for seating.

Good things include new 22.5 front tires on aluminum wheels, extra 22.5
aluminum wheels, front wheel bearing oilers, rebuilt 6.5kw generator that
starts,
new power transfer switch, newer roof A/C units, newer Alpine
CD/Stereo/Cassette/Speakers, powder coated silver front bumper, patio awnings
both sides,
roof storage pod, Bostrom air-ride front seats and good mechanical condition.
All lights, engine heat, fans, water heater, water system, waste system, TV
antennae, safe, stove and fridge worked when last used.

Not so good things include: condition of paint, rear bumper needs redone,
dash AC does not work, 20" older rear tires, some gauges don't work, no cruise
control or Jake brake, leaky step air cylinder, engine and generator
exhausts need work, no leveling system or central vac or burglar alarm or
backup
camera or TV, RH wiper does not work, one set of four 6-volt batteries serves
both house and engine, needs interior generator start switch, no inverter and
converters may not work. Furnaces were rebuilt and worked before but don't
work now. Windshields are chipped but I will get them replaced on my
insurance.

We are building a new house (crazy, huh, at this time) and my wife wants our
Bluebird gone, out of the yard before we put the old house up for sale. So
we would like to know, is this project Wanderlodge worth $5,000?

of the forum. I am not interested, but there may be others who need
