Leveling Motor removal, ARRRGGGHHH!!!!!
The pump motor and selenoid for my leveling system are both burned
out. The

selenoid was an easy remove, but the motor is another thing
altogether.I had

to cut a hole in the floor under the step to remove the last bolt
that

connected the motor to the pump. No big deal the metal was soft and
the

sawzall went right thru it, and it will be easy to repair later and
out of

sight, under the step. But it turns out that the MOTOR holds up the
pump.

There appears to be two bolts or studs that go thru te step wall, but
are

unseen on the other side . Has anyone any information on how to go
about

removing the motor without completely butchering the steps.I have
posted

some picts of job as it stands now, labeled "Leveling motor".Any help
would

be appreciated, but I feel it may be time to get out the pry bar
anyway.

The bolts are visible on the front face of the step, just peel the
carpet back to expose them. They thread directly into the motor
housing. Support the motor as you remove them, as when they are gone
gravity will take over. I replaced the leveling motor and reservoir
on my old FC, and did not have to make any "modifications" to get it
out.

Then that's it, the pry bar shall have it's dzy.I tried feeling
for the bolt heads but found none. The hinge of the access step is
held on with finishing nails and also holds the rug in place.I'll
pull it off in the AM and see whats under there. Thanks for the help.

The bolt heads are in recessed holes, you can't feel them through the
carpet, but they are there.

wrote: Well it's done. The new motor and seleoid was only $ 165 at
a local ignition shop. Total time including labor, running around for
the parts and head scratching was about 8 hours.Tested and it works
fine now. The reason I had to cut the hole in the step base was
because I did not remove the pump, I left it blocked up in it's
original position. I did not want to disturb the hydaulic lines or
pump for fear of creating another problem. I intend to look at the
pump tomorrow and see if there isn't some way of bracing the back end
of the pump. I don't like the existing mount at all.
