Water pump
Pete,

My Microphor also acted up when I installed the
Shurflo Extreme constant pressure pump. I found
that I could get it to behave by decreasing the water
flow at the water distribution manifold. When the water
leaves the pump, my coach has a set of ball valves that
the water passes thru before the final destination. Your's
is probably similar. I turned down the flow to the toilet
and it works fine. I'm not sure if the problem with the
Microflor is flow rate or pressure or both, but turning
down the flow rate does fixed it for me.

above spec. The work around is to flip open the sink faucet and
"Instantaneously" hit the flush lever. The pump always delays for a
microsecond, so the pressure drops sufficiently for the toilet to
flush before the pressure goes back up.

It would be convenient if my coach was plumbed in a similar fashion
-- but it isn't. The pipe from the pump disappears behind a bulkhead
in the basement without any valves or manifold. I suspect that your
coach uses PEX tubing -- which works best when each 'run' goes
directly to the intended outlet without connectors in between -- as a
result, manifold distribution systems are commonly used with PEX. I
have polycarbonate plumbing (no longer used due to serious problems
encountered in home/mobile home installations). It is plumbed in the
same manner as older plumbing systems with various connections and
branching lines.

I do have a cut off valve for the toilet located in the floor of the
closet in the bathroom. I'll experiment with adjusting it to see if
that will do the trick. I was going to insert a pressure limiter in
that line (when I get to it, but there are so many other projects
with higher priority). Making a small adjustment to the valve may be
sufficient for now...

Thanks for the idea.

Don, I believe the sporlan valve is controlled by the city water fill switch.

Yes, if your sporlan valve is inop- you will fill the tank and when you are done filing, turn the switch off. your pump switch -turn on and it should build pressure. Sometimes that valve gets crud on it and makes things go haywire.

Does any one know an answer to this question. I have a part ordered
for my Shur-Flo water pump & while waiting for it I took the pump out
& tied the in & out side of the water lines of the pump together & I
am on city water right now. After I fill my water tank I put the
switch in the position that you get water at the facet's if the pump
is turned on or it is on city water. Question? Does the water pump
being turned on open & close the sporlan valve or what control's the
valve?

Don, I have never had a problem except a belt on my pump. I have not chased down the plumbing or the electrical to the sporlan valve.
Mine works this way. In the electrical hook up bay is a switch that says water fill/off. With the city water hooked up water will go to the fresh water tank with the switch in the fill position. In this position, the water pump will run but will not pump water. In this position, water only goes to the fresh water tank. Place the switch in the off position and the water pump will pump water from the fresh water tank to the facets. With the switch in the off position, I simply hook up shore water and use it. I have never tried it simultaneously as there has never been any reason to.
If yours is like mine, a water pump failure would not preclude the use of shore water. A faulty sporlan valve might.
Hope this helps.

What you are saying is the sporlan valve only controls the water
going into the tank & when you turn it off you get water from the pump
or city hose. I thought maybe that is why I had trouble with my pump
is because a sporlan valve should isolate the pump from the city
water.

One other thing to make sure it is clear how mine operates. If after filling the tank, turning off the water and disconnecting and storing the water hose you forget to place the fill switch in the off position, the pump will run and not pump water. I did that once and thought I had a bad pump until I figured it out. It made me feel a little dumb in front of the wife. She needed to use the head on the road.

Leroy my switch never had a marking as to fill on or off. I was just
trying to make sure there wasn't a valve that kept the city water
pressure off the pump when you were using the city water. I had a
sensor on my Shur flo pump brake & I couldn't see what caused it after
3 years of using it.

Leroy
What has happened to me sometimes is when pulling out or storing
the electric cord I have put the switch in the fill tank position & I
have wandered why the pump won't pump water. That is my first check
after I wander if the pump went bad.
