Michelin Tires not available

Michelin Tires not available
I need 22.5 x 12R XZ2 tires mfg by Michelin. Local shops could not find
any avail. I called the national Michelin tele # 1-800-847-3435 last
month and again today and got the same message...none available in there
warehouses and they could not advise when a production date will be set.
I take this information as news that Michelin is getting out of the RV
tire business. Any one know any diffent? What other make/brand is a
good replacement for a 12R. If enuf folks call Michelin and complain
they might have a change of attitude. The XZ2 is a fine tire. Your input

I too found the Michelin's to be 'out of stock' when I went to my local
dealer at the beginning of August. They ordered tires and I was informed
(talked
to him 10+ days ago) that he was told they are set to produce the size (12R
x 22.5) sometime mid to late September.

I will follow up with him and if anything has changed will post a note to
the forum.

When I bought two new tires in January, Michelin told the dealer that the XZ2
was not available, and the appropriate replacement was the XZE, so that's what I
got.

The problem is the 12R 22.5s they are no longer industry standard the 11R.22.5s
are the standard now. I have a brand new (50 miles) Firestone FS 560 12r22. that
I had to buy on my way home when I had a blow out on a steer tire. I have gone
back to 11r22.5s

"Industry Standard" means "What I have."

If there is anything in the world that does NOT have an industry standard, at
any level, it is tires!

And, if there was one, it wouldn't be one of the inch sizes. It would be metric,
like 275/70R22.5 or 325/80R22.5.

Lots of companies still make 12R22.5, but dealers unless they cater to busses
don't typically carry them.

What do other FC drivers have for tires? I will be replacing my
tires next spring/summer. I currently have 12R22.5 on the front and
11R22.5 LRG on the back. Looking at the Michelin web site, the max
weight for the 11R22.5 per tire is 6175 lbs or 6610 lbs, depending on
if it is load range G or H. This would be too light for my front
axle.

Phil, go over to Pomps and look into their offerings. They should be able to
take care of you no problem. I called my local Pomps store and they have lots
of inventory, including alternatives to the Michelin.

Hi Phil,
In Feb. of this year replaced all my tires with 12x22.5 B F Goodrich, which are
made by Michelin... They ride and handle quite well...

I had responded to this subject on September 12 that I had the

I am now told the production run is `November'. My local dealer is a
bit frustrated too, as he has a large order of over 100 tires for a
bus company that is also waiting. He said this has happened before
for this size, but could offer no other solution than using another
brand or waiting. FWIW.
