Genny Exhaust
Well the saga on the genny (Perkins/Kohler 12.5kw) on RUBY
continues..After repairing the genny (stator, slip ring,
brushes, regulator, end bell bearing etc) the next step, and hopefully
the final step is to replace the exhaust. It was leaking at the muffler
(not safe) and I am having a terrible time trying to find a new
muffler. Donaldson simply says they dont make it anymore, my NAPA guy
cant cross it, and BB parts ..well lets just say BB parts..two messages
and no return call..I must not be well enough known or I dont have a
new Lxi or what ever!! Does anyone know what muffler I should use and
where to purchase it?? Also, the old muffler and exhaust pipe
would "soot" after running in the same spot for a while..exhaust pipe
was 1.5" I want to go bigger maybe 1.75" or even 2.0" to let the
engine "breathe" better maybe the sooting will go away then..any
thoughts?? Thanks in advance for any input.

you need to take the old muffler to a napa or even a tractor supply place, and
just match it up! randydupree93wb

Randy:
Would a Muffler shop (Not A Midas type) be of help? When we
replaced the 6.5 Onan with the present 5.5 Onan, the muffler now has a
sharp "Bark" How do you get the genny to purr quietly?

Scott check this site if you already have an old muffler. If not I can
measure mine tomorrow.
