89sp 3208 cat large air filter removal, how do you
Hi Ed
If I remember right you are going about it the right way. The end cap
should come off after you take the two clamps lose. I have had mine off & all
out of there & it is not a nice job.It is hard to get back together again or it
was for me.

have removed the 2 clamps from the large (11 in diam.by 30in long)
filter canaster. Ihave also removed the outside air duct thatgoes to it.
Does the end cap come off of the large cylinder around the filter or
does the whole thing unscrew or something? Is there another fastner on
the far end thatI cant see?
Thanks for any help

I too have an SP36 and have changed my air filter many times. The
end cap does not come off of any of the filters I used. You (Ed) did
all but remove the large diameter hose clamp from the air exit hose.
It is very hard to see (feel) and is on the engine side of the filter
canister. Again if you fellows have a filter that has a replaceable
element (by taking off the end cap) then yours is different than
mine. My filter is, except for the large mouthed horn assembly, one
metal unit with a paper filter element contained inside. Interesting
to weigh the new filter and the used one and compare!!

We have the same 300 HP 3208, but our engine is upfront.

If the filter in the same, Bob in correct there in a band clamp.
Not sure if the filter is the same , But I installed a Fram #CA6622,
It is all one piece, a large canister with a pleated filter inside.

Goto http://www.napaonline.com type in part # 6848.

This is an example of the filter, not sure if this will fit your SP.

Bob
You are right. It has been a couple of years since I have changed mine.
I just found my sight glass this past summer to show you when the filter gets
clogged.
