Hot Water tank - uncover back window

Hi,
We had a problem with the newly installed hot water tank. Problem -
the new plastic pipe(lt. tan/white) was glued to the old gray pipe
and it busted at that new union. Question: will the "shark" fitting
suggested by Home Depot work ?
We are thinking of uncovering the window at the headboard on the
streetside. Is it a suggested project or should I run like a
rabbit ?

Gene,

You need an adapter to go from the gray (PB) tubing to the white (PVC)
tubing. Glue does not work on the PB as you have just found out. The
fittings are available at True Value, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. I am not
familiar with the term "shark" but the one you want will compress onto
the PB and either compress or glue to the PVC.

Thanks for the info. The guy at Home Depot said it would work but,
just need a check, water on the floor is not fun.

We were interested in opening up that window to get some cross
ventilation in the bedroom.

I talked to Wendall at the plant about removing the plywood in that
window. He said the way he would do it was to pull the window out of
the coach from the out side(He said it pulls out easily). It is a
simple rubber gasket holding the window in place. Then he would saw
out the space around the window from the outside.

Wendall said the window will take some work to clean out the black
silcone they used to seal it shut. Will need to add all the trim to
the inside, blinds, etc.

We decided not to do it because it would require a complete
redecoration of both windows and the entire bedroom to match.
