I asked Paul Davis about the controversy, based on the messages that appeared on this list near the time I was buying my coach. He (Paul Davis) gave a brief description of "his side" ... It's not an issue to me. I was satisfied in my dealings with Mr. Davis. I wasn't "pointing any fingers" at any one and I'm not interested in arguing about it.

Note. There was a member of this list who had a dispute with Mr. Davis. I discussed the comments repeated on this list with him, and about all I can say about it is that there are two sides to the issue -- and that you can't please every one.

If I were to buy another RV, I'd certainly consider getting one from Paul Davis at Mr. Oliver's.

No 'may have' about it. I had an 83 PT40 for 9 years. They had 11Rs
as standard from the factory.

I dont like his practice of low mile statements only to make a
disclosure on the phone. this happened twice to me. I would still buy
from him because Paul doesnt come with the coach and I believe he
doesnt know if the coach is junk or a cream puff. You have to look
under the Mop-N-Glow. I get annoyed when a dealer or owner talks to me
when I am kicking tires. what they say and even the maintenance
documentation mean very little to me.

The Wanderlodges and Prevost that he gets I think are dealer trades.
many new coach dealers dont want expensive hard to finance items on
their lot. If someone comes in with 60 grand they would rather you use
it for a downpayment on a $180,000. new fleetwood sale. I bet 90% of
what Paul sells is a good deal.

I dont leave money decisions up to trust. Mom stoped giving me a
check for my birthday because I would call her bank.

Thank you, Phil. Offline, I believe, is where any further discussion of this issue needs to take place.

Dan,

IF you choose to deal with Mr. Oliver's, make sure you cross all your
"T's" and dot all your "i's". Make sure everything that is supposed
to be included with the deal, and on the coach, is there before you leave.

If you buy from Mr. Olivers, I suggest you arrange your own financing
prior to purchase. If you choose to allow the dealer to finance, make
sure everything you want included in the contract is accounted for.

As to one's "verbal" side of a story--it's a simple matter to minimize
an issue, especially when there is a major distraction involved, like
the impending purchase of a motorhome.

However, I have complete WRITTEN documentation of the issue, with
times, dates, and complete details.

Anyone doing their due diligence is free to contact me offline for an
outline of the dispute.

I just noticed this coach at Mr Olivers came with twin beds. I bet it
could be converted back to twins, if an individual wants original.

Mr. Oliver
Dan,

I bought my coach from a gentleman who had it on consignment with Paul
Davis. I am exceptionally happy with Mr. Davis and would buy from him
again.

Paul is an honest, straight up man. He let my family stay in the coach
on his lot overnight to make sure we liked it, and told me to make a
list of any problems I found so he could fix them in the morning. I
found a few minor issues and true to his word, he had them fixed right
away. He gave us a car to use, so we could get around town and
purchase food and other items we needed for the 2,000+ mile drive
home. He gave us a key to his gate so we could run around during the
evening after he had closed. He and his people spent hours and hours
answering all of my questions, teaching me about the coach, even gave
me a quick & dirty driving lesson as I'd never operated something this
big before. Pretty darn nice for someone who is only selling a coach
on consignment, in my opinion.

The only caveat I can provide is to have the coach inspected by Ralph
Fullenwider, for two reasons: (1) Just to put another set of
professional eyes on it above & beyond Paul's techs (who do a great
job, by the way); and (2) On a purchase of this kind it's just a good
idea to have a "buyer's agent" go over it. The only, I repeat only,
reason I say this is because Paul's business is flipping coaches so he
doesn't always know the full history and may miss things. He has the
coach in his possession for a short period of time before it moves on
to a new owner. They go through every coach pretty well and Paul's
technicians are smart people - I watched them inspect and make repairs
to another coach and they seemed quite thorough to me - but these are
complicated machines and sneaky problems can get by everyone. One more
set of experienced eyes is always good.

I do not believe Paul would sell any coach that had a serious problem
if he was aware of it so in regards to his character I have nothing
but praise for the man.

Now, all this being said, you asked if Paul stands by his sales. I'm
not sure what you mean by that, but let me put it this way: When you
buy a 20 year old coach you're not going to get a warranty in most
cases. I'm not sure it much matters who you buy from in this respect.
So, don't expect to be bringing it back to any dealer or private
seller if you run into a problem a week later. These are almost always
sold "as is, where is." You'll want to get comfortable with that
before you buy from anyone. Smile On the other hand, if you have concerns
in this area, you can always ask Paul. If the man tells you he will
warranty it then he will take care of you, but don't expect something
like this from anyone unless you've had a discussion about it and
you've been specifically given a warranty.
