riv vs rats

I remember at RATS when I had an airbag blow that Ralph and I replaced that baby in under an hour. I'm sure it was the audience cheering us on- them drinking beer, us getting greasy that made all the difference.

Since I have never been to riv or rats, could someone explain the
difference other than location? Also are factory techs at both?

Riv is sponsored by Bluebird and Dealers and is a pay event

Rats is sponsored by the people that are too lazy to go home after RIV
the only cost for Rats is the price of the Camping spot at a private park

In the past years people from Bluebird have shown up at the rats
You will find that the Rats Rally is a blast the friend old and new
the fixits and potluck dinners are second to none
Everyone contributes what they can either technical expertise or what
ever no monetary values are assessed
It is an unstructured gathering of friends and should not be missed

Ernie was instrumental in starting RATS and it has become and annual
event.

In the past coupons were given out for dollars off for repairs, service
and emergency repairs were performed
I always found I was way too far down the list or not in the right
pecking order to have any work done in the time available at the RIV
Dont expect any freebees in the way of service
One handy thing they offered was timely windshield replacement and it
seemed that every Bluebird in North America with a cracked Windshield
showed up at the Rally
At the Rats we did it ourselves and had fun doing it. The Ladies shop
and supervise the guys drink beer and supervise, one guy does the work
with much cheering and instruction from the sidelines
A great time is had by all

Stephen, thanks again. In the past I have owned other coaches and they usually agreed to fix 3 items. Sure does provide a lot of goodwill.
