Extender Rally
Good morning, we stopped at Sequin Diesel service Tx for Clyde to
change our fluids and what a wonderful surprise. Our rearend on the
bus that is was on its last leg. There was a bolt laying in the
botton of the housing and metal shavings in the oil. Had to pull the
axles and the chunk and found bolts on the ring gear were lose and
one was broken. When pulled apart to clean the spider gear cross was
also broken. We are now homeless and looking for a rearend. The only
good parts are the ring gear and pinion. Oh lets not forget the
airbag and air hose challenge.

Spent a wonderful week with friend, a great evening parked at Slyvia
and Jeff's and are now living in Clyde and Sara's BB.(Dakota
Traveler) Thank God for Texas friends. Joyce and Tony have offered
their home to us and you know I have enough food on board for a
month, as long as we have a can opener.

We have put out the donation can. My poor new Basset Hound will
probably not know us when we pick her up from thr Vets.

Queen Patticake and Steven (the butler),

How do you guys have such good luck? After the Land-all fiasco
and fuel pump stories, I'd have thought you were in for some
trouble-free years. Come to think of it, Steve's rearend was looking
pretty bad at Quartsite in January. Kind of saggy, maybe a few leaks
now and then!! Glad that he only lost one nut and not all of them. LOL

Patticake,

I know it is upsetting, BUT it is much better to find it on Clyde's
pit than to have it grenade on the IH-10 bridge going back into
Louisiana. I'd be *very* thankful for that.

Heavens, how did a bolt get in the bottom of the rear end? Did you have any noise to indicate this?

Leroy I'm with you on what was the cause? wonder if the driveline is
out of balance, and it shook the bolts loose or they were never
torqued or casteled or wire tied. sounds like vibration worked the
bolts loose and one of the harden bolts sheered off with the found
torque lag??????????? Or was it an issue with wrong ride hight and
the u joint geomentry??????? would be nice to know to keep it from
happening again or have the mechanice drill and wiretie the ring
gear if possible?????

A while back on Dupree's Wanderlodge forum there was a discussion

about broken ring gears on late mode 8V92 equipped Wanderlodges.

The fundamental issue seemed to be that the rearend is too weak

for the 8V92's torque... Something about ring gears breaking.
